(Unintentionally) starting a "low buy" wardrobe challenge

Today, I'm sharing with you how the lockdown period has led me to start (unintentionally) a low buy wardrobe challenge.

Usually I am posting about trends...
Usually, at this time of year, I am writing about the trends for the coming season (posts such as ‘5 Top Trends for Summer’). But that doesn’t seem quite right for right now.
We are all going out a lot less. And suddenly the season's new trends do not seem quite as relevant or as important. (Will this stick post lockdown, I wonder?)
I am definitely buying a lot less clothes than I usually would. And that really is no bad thing. Rather, I am wearing what already have and realising that I have plenty of clothes and plenty of outfits to wear.
Still going with the capsule wardrobes
While, in the early weeks, there was a temptation to spend a lot of time in pyjamas and lounge clothes, I have been absolutely determined to get my wear out of my clothes (especially the pieces that I love and look forward to wearing at this time of the year).
So I’ve still been creating capsule wardrobes for each season. It’s been working really well and I’ve really liked some of the outfit combinations that I’ve put together (make sure to follow me on Instagram to see these).
Low buy to no buy (almost)!
This has led me to realise that this lockdown period has really resulted in me participating in a “low buy challenge” - although I’m not sure that I can call it a "challenge" since it wasn’t intentional! In fact, I can almost go further and say that I’ve almost been participating in a “no buy 6 months”. Since January, the only clothing items I have bought, as the weather has gotten warmer, have been some new pyjama shorts.
Final thoughts
So this has left me pondering. In an ordinary world, do I really need to consume so much? Could I really manage on only 5 new wardrobe purchases a year (assuming that I already have all of the basics covered)? Or do I love clothes just a little too much?!
Let me know your thoughts below. Have you been shopping a lot during lockdown or, like me, are you at a low buy stage? It would be so interesting to know what you are doing.
