How to do Christmas jumpers

Today, I am going to explain how you can master Christmas jumpers without looking like a Christmas tree!

Having just returned from visiting friends and family over the Christmas break, I've been reflecting on what I packed and wore.

That made me think about Christmas jumpers and how you can easily master them without looking like a Christmas tree!

One item that I packed this year and wore numerous times is a gold jumper from Massimo Dutti. It was part of their Summer collection from last year but I have actually found that it found it best to wear during the autumn and winter months and adding layers underneath.

In particular, it has proven great to wear during the Christmas period as the shimmer looks very festive but (in my view at least) it remains tasteful, understated and doesn't look like that I am trying too hard. It's also very versatile as I can pair it with black, navy or even white trousers, as well as a navy and gold skirt that I have. In short, it's got all of the hallmarks of a true capsule wardrobe piece (something I will get into in more depth in later posts).

While Christmas jumpers have been all the rage in recent years, I would advocate adding plain, metallic jumper to your capsule wardrobe.  You will be able to wear it throughout the year, as well as during the festive season, by pairing it with different bottoms and accessorising with necklaces and scarves.

January may be the perfect month to add one to your wardrobe, particuarly if you are able to pick one up in the sales. I've added some links to my favourite picks below.

To the Christmas jumper!
